Things to do
Why go to Northern Cyprus?
Two words firstly: Sea and Sun.
There are plenty of good sandy beaches. Many with beach cafes and restaurants that we can recommend within easy driving distance of the villas.
The restaurants are generally good, very reasonably priced and with a good selection and plenty of vegetarian options. We have seen the wines available improve over the years and no one should have to spend a fortune eating out. `Fish dishes need not be an expensive option. There are many inexpensive restaurants that will book you a table right by the sea.
Both villas have charcoal barbecues and the supermarkets have well stocked meze choices and barbecue meats, fsh and vegetables `So eating at home adjacent to the pool is not a chore.
There are lots of walks, out of the heat of course, and many historic places to visit: the castles of St Hilarion, Buffavento and Kantara, the monastery at Bellapais, Girne (Kyrenia) Old Town and its castle and harbour with its open air restaurants overlooking the water. Gazimaguza (Famagusta) too with its famous Peteks Patisserie pastry shop and café, the walled town and Cathedral. Not far are the Greek ruins at Salamis

Getting there
Fly to Larnaca in the South with Easyjet, British Airways, JET2 and Thomas Cook and many others. A taxi will collect you from Larnaca. This will be arranged by your car hire firm and they will be waiting for you at Larnaca Airport to take you to your villa.
Alternatively...
Turkish and Pegasus airlines are available into Lefkosia (Ercan Airport), changing planes at Istanbul.

Car Hire
We can put you in touch with two companies who will arrange this for you. When you have got your dates and times we will email them for a quote and you can then book up direct with them. You pay in pounds sterling when you get the car. You don’t have to give credit card details or anything like that. Just show them your passport and driving licences. Cars are right hand drive and driving is on the left as in the UK.
Health
Hospitals are of a good standard. You should of course have your own travel insurance. Pharmacies are good for advice and some medications, as they are in most European countries.
Money
Turkish Lira is the local currency. We find best to take pounds sterling (notes in good condition, no tears or writing on them) and change to Turkish Lire as we go. You will get a much better rate than doing this in the UK. Credit and debit cards are widely used. Just tell your card provider in the usual way.
Weather
A Mediterranean climate: Long dry summers and warm wet winters. The winters can be wet at times but not freezing. There are often warm sunny days in the winter but the nights are cool. Temperatures pick up from March onwards.April, May and June are very pleasant with the hottest months being July and August. September and October both have much to offer and are popular with many visitors. The villas have plenty of shade and have high ceilings with air conditioners in the bedrooms and freestanding fans.
Both houses have log burning stoves for guests looking for a quiet winter break. Unlike many seaside places, everything does not just shut down over the winter.
